#Dwarf fortress tileset minecraft update
I'll try to update the OP with new stuff as it emerges. Utilities like DFHack and its derivatives (like Dwarf Therapist) will also not work until they're updated. The mechanics stay the same, but the way you do things will change a lot, what with the mouse UI and such. The game will now feature a basic in-game tutorial to help you start, but other than that, be on a look out for new content. The release of the new version is today, expect a lot to change. As noted by Captain K, it was possibly the most active thread on the forum at the time. Unless the dates got screwed up, it looks like we went through two 60 page threads in just May 2007. In the earliest DF thread I can find here, there's a link in the OP to the current SA thread "since the old PA DF megathread fell off the forums." Unfortunately it looks like PA's archives only go back to threads created at the start of 2007. There are early references at Bay12 about what's been said "over at PA" like everyone was aware of the places to talk about DF online. I think Penny Arcade forums were one of the first epicenters of Dwarf Fortress, alongside Something Awful and of course the Bay12 forums. I've been looking into Dwarf Fortress history. You can also support them directly at the Bay12 website. But supporting the Adams brothers in their now 20-year-old endeavour to create the most complex fantasy world simulation game ever is appreciated. The version remains free and will feature all the GUI improvements of the premium version, while keeping the classic ASCII display. And on Steam - Steam Workshop integration!
